Teri, I don't mean to keep jumping into your posts, but you've hit some nerves recently. I don't intend to make a habit of it. For the best part of the last 7 years, I've made 1 or 2 annual trips to Frankfort with KFTC and others. I'm no longer in a position or of a temperament to do so, but I know it's an important civic exercise. I ALWAYS felt better after a day over there with my friends of like mind. Did I 'move' anything? Honestly, I doubt it, but one never knows for sure. I applaud those who fight the headwinds and keep trying.

I have considered doing this in the past, partly inspired by your own efforts, Teri, but also because I thought it might be interesting. Now I have your how-to and your encouragement so...I think I will. The March 3 Lawrenceburg City council meeting is now on my Google calendar.

Teri, thanks for encouraging folks to do this.

Depending on a person’s particular interest there are groups who regularly go to the Capitol during session. Some like Kentuckians for the Commonwealth offer training on how to lobby and talk to representatives.

You can show up for specific rally days at the rotunda to support various issues- education, voting rights, common sense gun laws, and LGBTQ rights.

setting up an appointment to see your legislators is also possible.

Those of us who live close to Frankfort should make an effort to make our voices heard!

You’ve been an inspiration to me. Your suggestion to avoid being overwhelmed by “so much needs to be done,” to just PICK ONE was the key for me. It’s just ME, 83, rural Ohio making a little difference. I use the analogy of being just a drop but many drops coming together make the ocean. Thank you.

Hi Lois! I hope you’re doing well. Picking one thing is the key, and of course I get involved in a few other things as they come along as well, but I know my limits.

Current conditions, I continue to promote my “one,” women - but fearful of waiting out Trump, what CAN I do, now? Bigger donations to organizations who can make a difference, I’m writing letters of encouragement to politicians and getting involved here in the county. Nothing big, just more drops.
